Simon Pegg was overwhelmed by the proposed feature of Quentin Tarantino, one of the most talked about Star Trek projects that never came.
Speaking at Fan Expo Boston over the weekend, the actor revealed that he had never read the script himself, but was given a detailed summary by producers Lindsey Weber and JJ Abrams. His verdict? You might expect exactly from the filmmakers behind Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.
“That was what we call business bassit crazy,” Peg said, according to Corider. “Quentin’s Tarantino Star Trek script was everything you could expect.”
Wildvision’s Pegg Tarantino brought it to the table
Peg didn’t go into the details of a particular plot, but he believed that “it would have been a very incredible Curio to see Star Trek through his lens.” He added: “I don’t know how it went with the fans, but it would have been interesting for sure.”
Tarantino’s involvement in Star Trek was first reported in 2017 and was attached to the script by Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith. The film was said to be inspired by the 1968 Star Trek: Original Series episode “A Fue of the Action.”

The film’s plans eventually stagnated and Tarantino walked away amid concerns that it could be his last film. Smith previously said that the script is still sitting on Tarantino’s desk.
Pegg’s hope for the future of the Kelvin Timeline
Even if Tarantino’s Star Trek stays firmly in “If” territory, Peg is still optimistic about Kelvin’s timeline. It is a rebooted continuity started by Abrams in 2009.
For now, Tarantino’s rude Star Trek sits as one of the most appetizing near misses of modern sci-fi. This is a strange ball crossover that may not be forgotten whether Trekki loves it or not.
