Insights from AMC’s horror and thriller streaming service Shudder form part of screen producers’ Australia (SPA) pitch-on-demand initiative for the first time this month.
Jenny Ezell, the acquisition and production coordinator of IFC Entertainment, works across Shudder, IFC, and RLJ Entertainment.
Ezell provides a quick description of spa members who work in thriller, horror and supernatural genres. Former participant Jones will be added to the extensive library already available on Apple TV+, discussing what he wants to see from subscribers, ranging from comedy, scripted drama to animation. Additionally, Myers-Rifai, the first representative of the Foxtel group, is set to focus on discovering the original non-scripted projects through the program.
Myers-Rifai, who leads the team working across the Foxtel channel and Binge, said he looks forward to hearing the creative, different and exciting pitches from the “variety range of our amazing local producers.”
“We are delighted to be part of this year’s Pitch-On Demand and are honored to be the first standalone non-script commissioner invited to participate,” he said.
Spa CEO Matthew Deaner said the organization is pleased to welcome the fifth edition of Apple TV+ and Foxtel Group, and is equally excited that Shudder will be joining for the first time.
“Their participation demonstrates the appetite of these businesses for bold, original stories across a variety of genres and platforms.
“This initiative continues to promote invaluable connections between SPA members and key commissioners, helping to create real opportunities for local projects to reach both Australian and global audiences.”
