Jeannie Davison took over as head of business development for Screen Career following Fiona Gilroy’s retirement.
Davison joined the screen career of sister organization Media Mentor Australia, where she served as general manager. Her background works with the BBC, ITV and Netflix in development and production, and has recently held executive roles at Screen Australia, AFTRS and ScreenWorks.
In the 12 months since the screen carrier began, it has received $1.4 million in support from Screen Australia and Vicscreen. It is modelled on UK organizational screen skills, focusing on industry-led training programs and opportunities for skill development. It focuses on hiring pipelines for newcomers and people with transferable skills, as well as upscale opportunities for sub-line crews throughout their careers.
Davison is tasked with expanding and strengthening the scope of the nonprofit’s initiative.
In its first year, Screen Career launched five free e-learning programs. He was educated and addressed workplace bullying and harassment, mentoring, mentoring, and dealing with unconscious bias in the workplace. Additionally, they held in-person workshops for new entrants and provided training for senior crews in leadership and management.

Gilroy retired in the screen industry more than 35 years later, playing a major role in the distribution of Film Australia, SBS and Flame Distribution.
“I work with many inspiring creatives locally and internationally, along with many inspiring creatives in the film and television industry. My screen career was cake icing. I am part of such a passionate and passionate team and hope that it will bring about a real change in the Australian crew and that they all continue to succeed,” she said.
