Screen Australia has partnered with Los Angeles-based TV production company Dynamic Television, known for Ginny & Georgia and Savage River, in a new project to fund the development of up to four scripted TV projects. Developed the program.
The Dynamic Television Scripts Initiative will focus on serials and procedurals with innovative, high-concept ideas, memorable characters, and emotional stories that target mainstream audiences.
Applicants are asked to propose projects with a total development budget of up to $100,000, with Screen Australia and Dynamic Television each contributing 50% of the funding. Selected projects from each of the four rounds will benefit from Dynamic Television’s options for financing and distribution, based on mutually agreed terms.
Screen Australia COO Grainne Brunsdon said the initiative was an important opportunity for Australian stories to captivate audiences around the world.
“Our collaboration with Dynamic Television underscores our commitment to developing local talent and amplifying the unique voices of Australian storytelling to a global audience,” she said.
Dynamic TV managing partner Dan March said the company is excited to promote new stories from “very talented writers and producers.”
“As we looked at how we could allocate our resources and make a positive impact on Australian drama, we knew Screen Australia was the perfect partner,” he said.
Eligibility extends to Australian production companies with television drama projects of one hour per episode that comply with Screen Australia’s terms and conditions. The project must have a pilot script and series synopsis, and include no market bells and whistles or existing development agreements. A wide range of genres are covered, including crime, suspense, thriller, family, drama, and romance.
