Wodi Wodi/Dharawal/Yuin woman Gillian Moody Adler is set to return to Screen Australia as Head of Indigenous Content.
She returns to the agency from the National Film and Sound Archive, where she will serve as Director of Indigenous Affairs from 2022.
Throughout his 30-year career, Moody Adler has worked as a writer, producer, and director, including at the helm of his own company, Karori Productions, with credits including Kindred, Family Rules Season 1, Black Divas, and Katere. She previously worked as a development manager at Screen Australia (and its predecessor the Australian Film Commission) and as a production manager for SBS’s Indigenous media unit.
In her new role, Moody Adler will provide creative and operational guidance for Screen Australia’s Indigenous content investments, including development and production. She will join the department from January 12 next year and will work closely with the yet-to-be-appointed First Nations director, and her role will focus on strengthening film representation strategies, developing talent and fostering collaboration with partner organizations.
