Screen Australia has announced the latest recipients of its Skills Development Fund and BTL: Next Step initiative. The recipients will share in more than $900,000 in industrial development funding to address skills shortages and build capacity for Australia’s screen workforce.

Since its launch in April 2023, Screen Australia’s Industry Development Initiative has provided more than $5 million in training and skills development for more than 500 industry professionals.
These initiatives were introduced to address skills shortages in junior roles and expand the capacity of Australia’s film industry workforce. The Skills Development Fund is designed to help production companies, game development studios and film companies offer work-based learning, while BTL: Next Step is designed to help mid-career practitioners move beyond their current field of expertise. Kangaroo Beach Digital Team – Cheeky Little Media Pty Ltd: The funding will support Cheeky Little, an Australian producer of animated children’s content, to develop an in-house digital division specializing in the production and distribution of content for YouTube. Pasture Skills Development Plan – Salty Games Pty Ltd: Salty Games aims to establish a lasting gaming industry in the Northern Territory by leveraging local talent and creating an environment that reflects the Northern Territory’s rich culture.
