Netflix has released the official trailer for Salvador, a gritty Spanish series that seems rooted in real-world tensions. Watch the trailer above and read on to find out what’s revealed.
Tragic loss throws father into violent underworld
Luis Tosar (“Cell 211,” “Sleep Tight”) plays Salvador Aguirre, an emergency medical technician whose life falls apart when he learns that his teenage daughter Milena is involved with an ultra group known as the White Souls. The trailer suggests that their relationship is already rough. Finding her with a group during a riot, he tells her, “Why are you here? It’s dangerous.” “I didn’t raise you this way,” she replies. “You didn’t raise me…at all, actually.”
Then the trailer drops the hammer and she dies.
What begins as a search for answers quickly spirals into something far more dangerous as Salvador is forced to get uncomfortably close to the very movement he hates.
Social commentary under adrenaline
Set against the backdrop of violent street clashes between soccer extremists, the series depicts extremism not as an abstract threat but as something that seeps directly into everyday life. Much of the tension here touches on how ideology, identity, and anger can escalate into chaos, especially among young people drawn into extremist groups.
“She was an extremist,” the police tell him later in the trailer. He took it that they were saying she was expecting it. He retorted, “She was an extremist, so it makes sense.” “We didn’t say that.” “I think we did.”
cast and creators
Alongside Tosar, the series also stars Claudia Salas as Julia, a key member of the Ultra group, and Candela Arestegui as Milena. The wide-ranging cast includes Leonor Watling, Fariba Sheihan, Pedro Casablan, Patricia Vico, César Mateo, Alejandro Casaseca, Richard Holmes, Marco Marini, and Lucas Ares.
Salvador is created by Aitor Gabilondo (Patria, Wrong Side of the Tracks, Muted), who also serves as executive producer and co-wrote the series with João Barbero (Wrong Side of the Tracks, Muted) and Anna Casado (Muted). The film will be directed by Daniel Carpalsolo (Bank Under Siege, Sky High: The Series), with cinematography by Tommy Ferreras and stunt coordination overseen by Ricardo Rocca.
release date
The eight-episode series, filmed entirely in Madrid, will be released globally on Netflix on February 6th.
