One of the standout moments in Destiny 2: Edge of Fate Leave Stream today was a short snippet from the second expansion of the year. Rebel. Year of Prophecy begins all new sagas of Destiny 2 in the Saga of Destiny, with the first expansion of Edge of Destiny will be released on July 16th. But soon afterwards there was a rebel on December 6th.
Destiny has always worn inspiration on its sleeves, and Star Wars is one of the most notable. Bungee’s love for the franchise culminated in cosmetic releases, which were made in collaboration with the right brand, and seemed to have brought iconic Star Wars designs to the fateful universe. But that doesn’t seem to be the end. Although we haven’t seen the full scope of what this expansion involves yet, Renegades appears to be developing in collaboration with Lucasfilm.
The short teaser activates Star Wars-style blasters, the same hopeful score, and a lightsaber. The trailer ends with three Guardians riding on a sandy landscape that is very reminiscent of tattoos. It is still unknown how far this crossover has progressed. Given the role of the nines in this new saga, the idea of multiverse-related shenanigans is not entirely out of reach, but it seems unlikely that a expansion of fate will be set in the Star Wars universe.
Nevertheless, it is a very exciting outlook with so many possibilities. Buying the Year of Prophecy unlocks the Dark Side Legend Bundle. Three new ornament sets replicating the looks of Darth Vader, Kylo Ren and General. The whole thing is a very crazy collaboration and you don’t have to wait too long for the Renegades to be properly revealed in September.
In the meantime, Edge of Fate began on July 16th, with nine events free rituals now available. Check out the teaser trailer for Destiny 2: ReNegades.
