PlayStation Network appears to have been down for most of today, with users starting reporting issues at 10am, and remained down as of 1:30pm (AEST).
On the PlayStation Network website, account management, PlayStation Store, games and social are all down and you will see the following warning:
“You may be unable to launch games, apps, or network features. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
“You may have difficulty signing in to PlayStation Network or creating an account. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Down Detector shows thousands of Australians reporting issues with the PlayStation Network.
The cause of the problem is unknown, but interestingly there was a glitch this morning where game news was displayed as the background on PS5, and PlayStation tweeted that it had been fixed, and while that may be true, it also broke the PlayStation Network in the process. It is possible that .
A technical error with the official news feature on the PS5 console has since been resolved. There are no changes to how game news is displayed on PS5.

As of this writing, PlayStation has not confirmed that PSN is down, but we’ll let you know if anything major changes or pops up.
