To celebrate the launch of Alan Wake 2’s Deluxe Edition (as well as the Lakehouse DLC), Remedy also detailed how the game will run on PS5 Pro, detailing the huge improvements that will be made to the PS5 The first footage of the game running on Pro has also been released.
This is the first time we’ve created a very detailed feature list for the PS5 Pro version of the game, and it’s explained in great detail on Remedy’s blog here.
The game has two modes, one is a quality mode that uses Sony’s PSSR AI upscaling to bring ray-traced reflections to the game (for the first time on a console) while running at 30FPS.
Performance mode features similar visuals to the base PS5’s Fidelity mode, but now runs at 60FPS at a higher resolution.
Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro Quality Mode
30fps (with ray tracing) Ray-traced reflections (opaque and transparent) Output resolution 3840 x 2160 (4K) Rendering resolution 2176 x 1224
Alan Wake 2 PS5 Pro Performance Mode
60fps Uses roughly the same rendering (quality) settings as the basic PS5 quality mode. The base PS5 performance mode version runs at lower rendering (image quality) settings Render resolution 1536 x 864 Output resolution 3840 x 2160 (4K) The base PS5 version outputs 1440p.
Remedy went on to say that he wants to keep the same 30/60FPS modes on PS5 Pro while improving both modes. It’s been well documented how difficult Alan Wake 2 is to run on PC, so it’s clear that the PS5 Pro has some limitations as well.
“On PlayStation 5, Alan Wake 2 didn’t have ray tracing, but with the improved ray tracing capabilities and added power of Pro, we’re bringing ray tracing to Alan Wake 2’s quality mode on Pro. , allowing for ray-traced reflections on opaque and transparent surfaces,” said Remedy.
PS5 Pro will be released on November 7th. Currently accepting pre-orders on Amazon (here)
