In some pretty big news, it was announced that PlayStation legend (and current indie head) Shuhei Yoshida will be leaving Sony on January 15, 2025, after 31 years with the company.

On the PlayStation Podcast, Yoshida said, “I will be leaving Sony Interactive Entertainment on January 15, 2025… It’s like announcing the release date of a new game, (something) I haven’t done in a long time. (laughs),” he said. ”

Mr. Yoshida has been involved with PlayStation since the beginning, initially as head of PlayStation Studio, where he oversaw the creation of many of PlayStation’s most iconic game series. He has overseen the development of many iconic PlayStation franchises, including Crash, Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, God of War, Ape Escape, PaRappa the Rappa, and many other titles.

In response to the tweet, Yoshida said he wants to stay in the industry, so hopefully it looks like he’s still there.

No, I want to stay in this industry 🙂

We highly recommend reading the interview on the PlayStation Blog and listening to the podcast here.
