PAX Aus 2025: Experience Lenovo’s new technology firsthand

PAX Aus 2025 is over, but the content continues to roll out.

We had a chance to spend some time with Lenovo to check out all the gear and technology coming in 2025 and beyond. Let’s dive in.

Legion 9i: Combining power and 3D innovation

At the center of the booth was the Lenovo Legion 9i (18-inch, 10). This powerful laptop quickly attracted attention with its sleek build and bold promise of optional 2K 3D support. Lenovo’s efforts are truly impressive.

The laptop’s built-in webcam tracks your eyes in real time and adjusts the 3D image based on where your eyes land on the screen. These movements are smooth and immersive, allowing you to see depth and perspective even when you tilt, shift, or tilt your head. The only downside is that other people sometimes interrupt your tracking during busy competitions, but this indicates that this feature works best in a quieter, more personal environment.

When it worked as intended, the effect was impressive. During a brief hands-on session with Black Myth Wukong in 3D, the sense of scale and depth when exploring the jungle setting was particularly noticeable, making the experience feel different from regular gameplay. Lenovo says about 30 games currently support 3D functionality through custom software along with native 3D video playback.

Graphically it adds an extra dimension to the game, but I’m not sure how this will fare long term over 60 hours of play.

Smarter, faster and AI-optimized

In addition to 3D capabilities, Legion 9i features Lenovo’s proprietary AI engine built to optimize system performance on the fly. The rep explained that the AI constantly adjusts power usage, fan speed, and graphics without any input from the user.

This is a movement toward what they call “invisible performance management.” Although the company is clearly focused on gamers, Lenovo is also reaching out to developers and designers, pitching this as a hybrid workstation for both creative and technical work.
Legion Go S and Legion Glasses 2: Portable power supply, wearable screen

Lenovo’s portable game console “Legion Go S”

This was also meant to be a hands-on experience that would show you how to use a handheld PC more comfortably. The controls are natural, the build quality is solid, and it’s clear that Lenovo has improved the device since the original.

The device is half the weight of my Legion Go Gen 1 console and fits comfortably in my hand thanks to the ergonomic controller on the side. Still, the display interface feels a bit clunky and could be improved in future updates.

Legion Glasses 2 was even more of a surprise. This wearable display projects a large virtual screen in front of your eyes. When I tried it for the first time, I was impressed by how much clearer, brighter, and larger the image was than I expected. While it won’t completely replace your gaming monitor or movie theater screen, it’s an interesting piece of portable entertainment technology. If you don’t want to look down at your device screen during a long flight, these might be your favorite.

The Legion Go controller was used accordingly.

It feels similar to the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller. The controllers on the sides can be slid off and combined into a controller that fits comfortably in your hand.

Lenovo Legion Tab – the perfect sofa companion

It’s been a while since we’ve taken a serious look at an Android tablet, but this device seems like a perfect fit for a Spotify controller and YouTube watcher, while still being powerful enough to play mobile games.

The screen offers sharp, deep colors and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform. You get ray tracing and up to 165 FPS here. Boasting a 14% larger Legion Coldfront Vapor Chamber, it dissipates heat for maximum gaming performance.

final thoughts

Lenovo’s booth at PAX Aus 2025 was more than just a hardware showcase. It highlighted how gaming technology is pushing beyond its normal limits. With 3D immersion, AI optimization, and powerful portable and wearable screens, Lenovo Legion clearly aims to lead in both gaming and creative innovation.

Many thanks to the Lenovo team for the detailed tour. Seeing the limits of performance and imagination continue to push forward is always a big highlight of PAX Aus, and Lenovo consistently delivers year after year.
