Big Owl Pictures Australia and Initium Productions India has announced an exclusive agreement to create and distribute non-scripted formats for the Indian market.

The partnership aimed at offering 25 original formats across genres, including entertainment, dating, food, and reality television, is in strengthening the relationship between the Australian and Indian screen industry.

The Australian and India co-production agreement was ratified late last year, and Indian films are currently featured regularly among the most popular releases at the Australian box office. More than 50 people participated in India’s 2024 International Film Festival last November after Australia was named “Land of Focus.”

Headed by former Warner Bros. Australia’s director of television, Sean Murphy, Big Owl Pictures develops and produces unscripted content. Murphy leads formats such as masked singers, bachelor’s degrees, celebrity apprentice and dancing with the stars.

“Each format we have created, we see the wider life beyond television shows, how it adapts to mobile, gaming, creative online communities, tourist attractions and live events,” Murphy said.

“We see the afterglow of all formats, so our platform partners can share in the world created by IP. Our relationship with Initium is based on realizing the original format through creative business thinking.”

Procam International Group Company, Initium Productions, focuses on live sports and entertainment, as well as expanded virtual reality.

Procam International is at the forefront of the running revolution in India with four world-class IPs, including Tata Mumbai Marathon. We have a diverse portfolio that includes collaborations with brands such as Tata, Nykaa, Microsoft, Dior, Airtel, Sony Sports, Disney+ Hotstar, Rajasthan Royals, and Kolkata Knight riders.

David Premier, co-founder of Initiative Productions, said that Indian television and Ott landscapes have experienced a major surge in, offering endless opportunities for storytelling in a new era.

“With this collaboration, we aim to bring fresh and engaging content to Indian audiences to set new benchmarks for the industry while maintaining the global appeal of Big Owl’s popular form.”
