Regarding the final scene of season 2, where Noah sells the gold watch Hans gave him in Nagano and takes on a new identity as Minato Ogawa:
“I think the moment he throws away his name and takes someone else’s name, he’s going to live a different life. He chose a particularly Japanese name. I told the audience that Noah was Japanese. I feel like they’re making me believe that I’m going to live like that, and what is the price of death?”
Solomon, Sunja’s grandson, plots to return to the good graces of his friends at the expense of his girlfriend Naomi and one of his former clients, Abe.
“Solomon ruined Naomi’s career and ruined the man he resented so much that he committed suicide. And this is all due to Solomon’s direct hand. He never lied about it. You’ll have to take this into account because he can’t run away, because he’s been able to escape and talk his way out of things. I always feel that Solomon is a really good salesman. But immigrants are very good salespeople, and that compartmentalization and coding that many immigrants do will catch up with you at some point.”
About Solomon’s father Mozas and Isamu Yoshii’s grandson Yoshii Mamoru:
“Obviously, there’s a much bigger history between Mozas and Yoshii, and that goes back to Hans, of course, because we found out in season 2 that Hans also knows Yoshii. The melodrama is about the characters. It’s a delicious, juicy way in which things fit and don’t fit and clash and scratch. I think that’s the fun part of being able to keep watching these stories for a long time. , we see the fallout from that action. So obviously at this point the audience doesn’t know what happened, but we know[the story]is coming.”
Regarding the possibility of season 3:
“This is one thing that’s out of my hands right now, and I think Apple is also waiting to see what happens with this show. I think we’re going to be seriously fighting for a third season. But ultimately it depends on the number of viewers.”
If you want 4 seasons of the show:
“I feel like in some ways there’s a version of me that feels like one or two more seasons is the right way to end this. You can’t live forever. At some point, things happen in your life and time passes. Time passes and people pass by. But I feel like I still have one or two more seasons to go.”
