The first trailer for battles after battle has fallen. Filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson (Blood, Boogie Night) throws everything he’s in this thing. Please see the trailer above. For more information, see below.
The plot details are still wrapped, but here are some of the things we know (probably, potentially). The film is based on Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland (also written by Anderson’s essential aide in 2014) and is set in Northern California. DiCaprio plays Bob Ferguson, a once-meaning revolutionary who lived in a silly haze of regret and unbranded cigarettes. His past catches up to him when he is lured by an enemy his daughter made years ago and forces Bob to reunite with the ’75 of France, the remains of his previous group.
The trailer draws an illustrated picture of organized chaos. A phone call to fill the screen with invalid secret lines, failed passwords, slow motion guns, and some authentic moments of Anderson-style absurdity. DiCaprio is taking an unstable route than he has mastered at this point.
Joining Zicaprio is reunited with Anderson after Lacolis Pizza as Zen-like “Teacher”, Sean Penn, Colonel Rock Joe, Regina Hall, Teina Taylor, Wood Harris, Chase Infinity and Sean Penn as Alanaheim.
Anderson will direct his script and re-team with frequent collaborators, including composer Johnny Greenwood (With Blood), production designer Florencia Martin (Licoris Pizza), and co-DP Michael Bauman (Limoris Pizza). It reportedly is Anderson’s most expensive film so far, with a budget of USD 130 million.
The battles will be held at Australian cinemas on September 25th and US cinemas on September 28th.
