As expected from Aussie Wood. Australians are always a strong contender for nominations at the AACTA International Awards, and this year the trend is particularly strong across the acting categories, with Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Joel Edgerton, Jacob Elordi, Dacre Montgomery, Rose Byrne and Sarah Snook all nominated.
The awards recognize the year’s best achievements in film and television across the global film industry, with One Battle After Another and Hamnet leading the film race with seven and six nominations respectively, while Adolescence leads the television nominations with four nominations.
Nominations and winners are determined by AACTA International Chapter. AACTA International Branch is made up of approximately 190 Australian film professionals with outstanding international qualifications, many of whom are members of AMPAS and BAFTA. The winners will be announced at the same time as the AACTA awards ceremony on the Gold Coast in February next year.
“One Battle After Another” and “Hamnet” will compete for best picture with “Marty Supreme,” “Nuremberg,” and “The Sinners,” while “Adolescence,” “Severance,” “Slow Horses,” “The Diplomat,” and “The Pit” will win best drama series.
“The Hux,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “The Shrinking,” “The Bear” and “The Studio” will compete for Best Comedy Series.
The strong list of Australians up for the award is the same as the Golden Globes, with Elordi, Byrne, Snook and Edgerton chasing the gong.
The 2026 AACTA Awards Ceremony will be held at HOTA on the Gold Coast on February 6th.
