Netflix has announced the official trailer for Jay Kelly from Noah Baumbach’s (Marriase Story, Frances HA). George Clooney plays movie icons in messy quests in Adam Sandler Rishing Shotgun. Check out the trailer above and read the essentials.
Famous actor Jay Kelly (Clooney) bolts for an improvised European escape and drags along his dedicated manager Ron (Sandler) and publicist Liz (Laura Dern). This trip turns into calculations that come with fame, family and choices he has dodged over years. “All my memories are movies,” Jay says in the trailer. This is a diagnosis-like confession.
“This is about the part where he’s very successful, and he has to agree with the rest of his life,” Clooney explained to the Netflix site Tudum. “He agrees with the idea that maybe he wasn’t that great friend or father. He was really good at being a movie star.”
Director Bambach (who co-written the screenplay with Emily Mortimer, who also played a role in the film) spreads the lens into the orbit, not just the star.
Alongside Clooney, Sandler and Dern, the film’s large ensemble includes Billy Cradup, Riley Kee, Grace Edwards, Stacey Keech, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Greta Gelwig, Alba Rollwahher, Josh Hamilton, Renee Henry, Nicole Lecki Graham, Isla Graham and Charlie Lowe.
Jay Kelly will open on Select US Cinemas on November 14th and will land on Netflix on December 5th.
