Nintendo has unveiled three new amiibo sets at its latest Nintendo direct, one of which (Metroid Prime 4) is pretty standard, but Super Mario Galaxy and Kirby Air Rider Amibo are actually very different from the Amibo that Harbor dropped in the past.
The Super Mario Galaxy ones, including both Mario & Luma and Rosalina and Luma, are much larger in size compared to the average Amibo, and even bigger. I don’t know the exact dimensions yet, but the Twill is just as high as Detective Pikachu Amiibo, who was a one-off release at 13.6cm. In terms of functionality, both of these offer a larger one-up mushroom.
Both of these were oddly announced on April 2, 2026 (even though the game started in a few weeks), and in Australia it costs $44.95.
As for the Kirby Air Riders Amiibo, these are different in the sense that you can trade riders for the machine. As mentioned earlier, Kirby Air Riders place a big emphasis on swapping characters and machines, and amiibo holds each stats individually, allowing them to mix and match with the characters and vehicles.
At launch, there will be two releases at launch on November 20th, including Kirby & Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee.
For Metroid fans, there are also three Metroid Prime 4 Amiibos, but these are pretty standard. There’s the classic Samus Amibo that’ll be available on November 6th for $29.95. Samus + VI-0-LA (her bike) Amibo will appear on the same day for $44.95 and on December 4th for $29.95.
