After listing the Nintendo Switch 2 website in both docking and handheld modes before it was removed, it was a point of confusion, but Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 does not support VRR in docked mode.
In a statement to Nintendo’s Life, Nintendo said: “The Nintendo Switch 2 only supports VRR in handheld mode. The incorrect information was first published on the Nintendo Switch 2 website. We apologize for the error.”
Like the PS5, the Nintendo Switch 2 can get this in post-release updates, but there could be technical reasons as to how Switch 2 passes through this signal so that it doesn’t work.
When asked about VRR coming to TV mode in future updates, Nintendo said to Nintendo Life: “We have not announced anything on this topic,” that’s not so surprising.
In handheld mode, the Nintendo Switch 2 supports VRR on a 120Hz display, but it’s a shame that it’s not in docking mode as VRR is a great way to slide uneven frame rates.
