The first trailer for Night Patrol, the new thriller starring Justin Long, begins like a grimy Los Angeles street drama in the vein of End of Watch. Tense patrols, cops trying to cover up the situation, and fear descends. Apparently, this wasn’t just a bad night at work. It’s a full-fledged vampire cop movie. Watch the trailer above and read more below.
The trailer shows Carr, an LAPD officer, returning to the housing projects in his hometown and grappling with old ties and an uneasy truce with local gangs. Paired with Hawkins, a newcomer eager to prove himself, Kerr’s night begins like any other ride-along. Patrols, pressure, and the feeling that night patrol units have more power than necessary.
Then the tone changes. As revealed in the trailer, Carr uncovers horrifying secrets within this supposedly elite task force. They are vampires, and the people they are draining are the same residents he is supposed to protect. The film is being pitched as a genre mashup with a few things to say, with street-level police thriller and pulpy supernatural horror smashed together.
The film’s cast includes Jermaine Fowler, Justin Long, RJ Cyler, Freddie Gibbs, CM Punk, YG, Flying Lotus, Dermot Mulroney, John Oswald, and Nicky Micheaux. Fowler stars as Carr, while Long plays Hawkins, a legendary recruit drawn into the Night Patrol’s dark secrets.
Night Patrol is the second feature directed by Ryan Prowse, following the cult favorites Lowlife and the Terror segment in V/H/S/94. The script was written by Prowse, Shay Ogbonna, Tim Cairo, and Jake Gibson, and will be produced by Josh Goldbloom, David S. Goyer, Narine Hacopian, James Harris, Mark Lane, and Keith Levine.
Night Patrol will be released in select U.S. theaters on January 16, 2026 through RLJE Films, with a streaming debut on Shudder in late 2026.
