Nick Pappas, Chairman of the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Chairman of the Australian Chapter of the Hellenic Initiative, will serve as a non-director on the SBS Board for a five-year term following the retirement of Piyush Gupta in October. .
Mr Pappas has held chair and director positions in various sectors including the Bank of Sydney and was previously a director of the Powerhouse Museum. He also has extensive experience in the legal industry, having worked as a commercial litigator for 40 years, and is director of the Hellenic Club in Sydney and the Hellenic Museum in Melbourne.
In 2013, Pappas was appointed to the General Division of the Order of Australia for services to the arts, rugby league and the Greek Australian community.
His appointment to the SBS Board was recommended by an independent nomination committee as part of a merit-based appointment process.
