Sphere Abacus has secured international sales next door to the entertainment drama The Family, which includes the US and Canadian AMC network and UK ITV.
Other buyers include CBC GEM (Canada), ITV (UK), Pickbox (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria), Skyfree (New Zealand), RTE (Ireland), YLE (Finland), TV4 (Sweden), and Minartus (Belgias).
Sally Hepworth’s New York Times bestseller The Family Next Door stars Theresa Palmer and Bella Heathcourt, exploring the challenges of motherhood, marriage, friendship and the complexity of family identity.
It centers around the mysterious Isabelle (Palmer). Isabel travels to a small seaside cul-de-dead tragic drive, her obsessive drive to solve the fascinating mystery, casting doubt on the four neighboring families. Her quest to reunite one family brings results to all of them.
In addition to Palmer and Heathcourt, the series also stars Sarah Scheller, Katherine McClement, Min Zu Hey, Jane Harbor, Bob Morley, Daniel Henshall, Tane Williams Accra, Dominique Ona Aliki and Maria Angelco.
Sarah Scheller was directed by Emma Freeman and wrote the series alongside Pip Carmel, Julia Moriarty and Andrew Anastasios. Dean O’Toole was a series producer, and Melinda Wearne was the producer. David Ogilvy, Jenny O’Shea, Joel Rice and Meghan Mathes Jacobs executives have produced alongside ABC’s Rachel Okine and Rebecca Anderson.
Since its August debut at ABC, The Family Next Door has set a record as ABC Iview’s fastest-growing commissioned drama premiere.
