Netflix has released a new trailer for The Electric State, the upcoming sci-fi movie from Avengers: Endgame and The Gray Man directors Anthony and Joe Russo. Starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. Look above.
The film, based on Simon Stålenhag’s 2018 graphic novel, reimagines the 1990s as a world where artificial intelligence sparks a devastating war, leaving behind a robot-filled wasteland. Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown plays Michelle, a determined young woman searching for her missing brother. Pratt plays a rogue smuggler who joins her on her journey.
The film’s ensemble includes Ke Hui Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), and Giancarlo.・Includes Esposito (Breaking Bad). Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, and Jenny Slate voice the robot characters.
With a screenplay by Marvel’s Endgame, Infinity War, and Civil War screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the Russo’s adaptation expands on the themes of Stålenhag’s original, with a retro twist. It weaves a story about family in a futuristic landscape. “I was shocked by this movie,” Stålenhag, who was involved in its development, told the Netflix site Tudum. “It was an amazing experience to see what I had written come to life in this way. What resonated most with me was the emotional core of the film: the need for family. Although the film changes genre slightly from the original, its main core remains the same and is beautifully expanded upon.
Anthony Russo said: “This story felt like a fairy tale to us. We really wanted to express the very basic aspects of a fairy tale.” Joe Russo echoed this sentiment, stating that the film’s Emphasizing the combination of grandeur and empathy, he said: And our brain is always there.
