Xbox has revealed an updated version of its wireless headset that will be released in 2021 (review here). Available now from the Microsoft Store for $159.95 ($10 increase).
The new wireless headset has a battery life of 20 hours (up from 15 hours), the microphone has been upgraded with auto-mute and audio isolation, and it also includes Bluetooth 5.3 for PC connectivity. Dolby Atmos codec is also available at no additional charge.
The design is quite similar, but the green color on the sides has faded, giving it a more luxurious feel. It also retains the volume dials on both cups that I loved so much from the original set.
At $160, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better wireless headset. In my review of the original version, I said: “The $150 Xbox Wireless Headset is a great headset that’s easy to recommend to any Xbox owner. The design is premium, the sound pops, and features like dual connectivity, an easy-to-access volume wheel, and auto-mute make this a great headset. It’s taken to the next level in its price range. This headset is so good I wish it could be used on other consoles.”
