Nintendo suddenly announced that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be receiving a major update for the Nintendo Switch 2 as well as a major content update. These were both released on January 16th, with version 3.0.0 being free and the Switch 2 update costing A$8 for owners who want to upgrade.
As for the Nintendo Switch 2 update, the TV mode resolution has been updated to 4K, mouse controls have been added, the ability to call residents’ names using the Nintendo Switch 2’s built-in microphone, and 12-player online multiplayer sessions are now possible.
The new version 3.0.0 update is available to all players and adds a new resort hotel run by Kapp’n and his family, a new Resetti feature that allows you to organize your islands, Slumber Islands, the ability to save up to 3 islands and play online co-op with friends, and new collaborations such as Zelda and Lego.

Features of Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0.0 update
Grand opening of resort hotel: A resort hotel run by the Kappun family opens on the pier. In order to attract guests from outside the island, we will help with the decoration of the guest rooms. Additionally, you can find new furniture and clothing at the souvenir shop and dress up your mannequins with outfits that your guests can wear. Make life on the island more convenient: Would you like to make a fresh start? Resetti offers a convenient reset service to help you declutter your island. Plus, you can now upgrade your home’s storage space to hold up to 9,000 items, including trees, shrubs, and flowers. Slumber Islands: Players with a Nintendo Switch Online membership can design and save up to three islands to play with friends online. Choose the size and layout of your island, collaboratively build and design it, access your inventory to decorate your island, and invite residents from your home island. Collaboration: Collect Nintendo items in-game like Ultra Hands and Nintendo consoles to add a classic feel to your island. Nintendo Switch Online members can also play select Nintendo classic titles in-game when interacting with certain Nintendo console items. This update also introduces LEGO® items. Furthermore, you can select amiibo*6 from the “Legend of Zelda” series or “Splatoon” series to invite specific characters, or unlock various items inspired by the series.
