Tom Hardy spends one night hell with a bloody new trailer that arrives for Havoc, the long-time Netflix action thriller of Raid Director Gareth Evans. Look up.
Hardy plays Walker, a nonsense cop dragged into the crime underworld after the drug deal collapses and the disappearance of his estranged son of a politician. With multiple factions nearby, including crime syndicates, bent officials and his own divisions, Walker has no choice but to punch, shoot and craze the corruption of the city to survive.
The trailer doesn’t have time to set the tone. High speed pursuits, shotgun explosions, back alley brawls, one extremely unfortunate police cruiser takes the washing machine to the windshield. The massacre looks cruel, but that’s comparable to the course where Evans is at the helm. This is Raid, director of Gangs of London, and Netflix has released the Apostle and, judging from what we’ve seen, Havoc is poised to carry on the athletic, bone-carving legacy of filmmakers.
Participating in Hardy is a stacked supportive cast including Forest Whitaker (The Godfather of Harlem, The Last King of Scotland), Timothy Oliphant (Justice, Mandalorian), Jesse Mayley (Shadow and Bone), Justin Cornwell (Umbrella Academy), Lewis Guzman (Wednesday, Transport), and Kel-in Sepulvenda (Good Hommeen’s). (UFC), Sunnypan (The Night Comes for Us), Jim Caesar (Baby Reindeer), Xelia Mendes-Jones (Fallout), Yeo Yann Yann (American-born Chinese).
Written and directed by Evans, Havoc is produced by Hardy, Ed Talfan, and Aram Tertzakian. This is Hardy’s first major Netflix feature. If the film offers the promise of this trailer, it could be one of the biggest action hits of streamers this year. My fingers crossed this.
Havoc will be a global hit on Netflix on April 25th.
