Network 10 will screen new episodes of The Traitors next year, with former Big Brother host Gretel Killeen intervening before the latest iteration.
The cameras work together to build a pot of awards as “faithful people,” and chase the fierce contestants again, but a group of “traitors” hides between them, plan to eliminate players and oppose each other. Just as paranoia and doubt are set, faithful people need to hold their nerves, expel traitors and trust each other in their daily votes to share their prizes.
All3Media Company, The Traitors (De Verradirs), created in the Netherlands by IDTV, was created and developed by IDTV and Posvideo in collaboration with RTL Creative Unit.
The Traitor Australia is produced by New Zealand production company South Pacific Pictures and will be held in a “all-new location.”
This comes two years after production was suspended in the previous version of Australia, the Endemole’s brilliance production hosted by Roger Cother.
Over 30 regions have commissioned local format versions, including the US, which has won an Emmy Award for its outstanding competitive reality program over the past two years.
All3Media International is responsible for the international distribution of formats and tape sales.
Killeen said she was excited to put her spin on the hosting role.
“As a writer and performer, I love new experiences and by hosting new traitors I give you permission to explore alternative versions of myself in an imaginary place filled with challenging mischief,” she said.
Tamara Shimono, vice president of content at Paramount Australia, said Killeen is well suited to her role as “a groundbreaking and buzz-worthy reality show OG.”
“The form of traitors makes fans fall in love with every twist and bend around the world. It’s time for us to return to Australia’s screens in our own version,” she said.
“We’re building a great cast of the most unning clever Australians, but Gretel is poised to take them to test them out more than ever before, and the audience will be on the edge of their seats.”
The lineup of loyal and traitors will soon be revealed, and the series will premiere on Network 10 in 2026.
