I haven’t watched a cooking reality show in four years. why? To be honest, it’s a genre that I personally don’t find useful.
With so many shows in this market, from My Kitchen Rules and Top Chef to The Great British Bake Off and Iron Chef, so many people love this wholesome little ( (or not-so-small things) It’s just endearing to see people finding solace in the show. corner of the TV. But unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for me.
That was until last week.
One Friday night, I was mindlessly scrolling through Netflix when I came across a show that a few of my friends had been pestering me to watch. I got so bored that I clicked on it…and it changed my life on its own. At least when it comes to cooking shows, my opinion hasn’t changed.
Imagine a standard cooking competition show. Perhaps you’ve seen similar all-or-nothing challenges, talented chefs, and impressive dishes before. Imagine all this. But considering the tensions between social classes adds to the already high-stakes stakes of pitting chefs from different social positions in the culinary world against each other. And it concludes with incredibly high production values and dramatic narration that can only be described as chilling.
That’s Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars.
This fusion of Master Chef and Squid Game completely shook up the genre.
