Netflix has released the official trailer for Season 3 of The Night Agent, and it wastes no time in bringing Peter Sutherland back to rock bottom. Watch the trailer above and read on to find out what’s revealed.
Chase in Istanbul turns into global chaos
Season 3 picks up in the aftermath of season 2, with Peter (Gabriel Basso) being sent to track down a young Treasury official who has fled to Istanbul with secret government information after murdering his boss. What begins as a high-stakes investigation quickly turns into something much uglier. Dark money, paid assassins, and journalists seeking the truth come into direct conflict with Peter.
This time, the scale was even bigger. Creator and showrunner Sean Ryan told Netflix’s Tudum that the new season will take fans on an “adrenaline-pumping thrill ride” through Istanbul, Mexico City, Washington, New York and the Dominican Republic. Ryan also teases that Peter will be juggling “a dangerous conspiracy at the heart of the White House, a stubborn reporter with a sensitive intel and a dark past, a murder suspect trying to clear his name, a mysterious father and son who leave a trail of bodies in his wake, and a new partner who could be his salvation or his downfall.”
Who’s back and who’s new?
Basso returns as Peter Sutherland, Louis Hertham returns as secret agent Jacob Monroe, and Amanda Warren reprises her role as Peter’s trainer Katharine Weaver. Season 3 will also see Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ward Horton, and Albert Jones promoted to series regulars.
New additions to the cast this season include recurring cast members David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer, Genesis Rodriguez, Callum Vinson and Suraj Sharma, whose character is positioned in the trailer as Peter’s immediate target.
Bigger range, sharper stakes
The Night Agent, created by Sean Ryan and based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, has always been at its best when it turns the fantasy of “trusting no one” into a full-time job. Season 3 looks set to double down on that core atmosphere. Clean heroes have less work to do, more damage control, and a shift in loyalty that makes every new ally feel like a risk.
Filming began in Istanbul and moved back to New York state, but the trailer leans into a globe-trotting energy without losing the series’ gritty, pressure-cooker tension. Ryan summed up the intentions behind the new season: “We’re so excited to bring our fans new thrills, new worlds, new stunts, new characters and new adventures in Season 3.”
The Night Agent Season 3 premieres on Netflix on February 19th.
