Apple TV+ has released a new teaser trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, hinting at bigger issues than Monarch, and it looks like the entire world is ready for it. Godzilla and Kong are among them, but the spotlight shifts to a new Titan clearly meant to shake up the entire board. Watch the teaser above, then read on for more details.
The mystery deepens with the appearance of a new giant
Season 2 introduces a new creature, Titan X. The characters reveal it. “This isn’t Kong,” says Kurt Russell’s character Lee Shaw. “And it’s not Godzilla,” says Kate Landa, who plays Anna Sawai. The show gives the punchline, “This is something bigger.”
The teaser is visually understated, giving us a glimpse of the giant monster – an eye here, a giant tentacle there – while saving the clean look for later. A final glimpse shows the silhouette of Titan X underwater, passing a whale that looks ridiculously small by comparison.
Old timeline, new results
The story begins with Monarch’s fate hanging in the balance as past decisions continue to catch up with the present. The series continues to unfold across multiple eras and explore what Monarch has done, what he’s hidden, and how it’s now being unleashed.
Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell return as Lee Shaw at various points in their lives, as do Anna Sawai, Mari Yamamoto, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watanabe, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. The season also returns to the aftermath related to Axis Mundi, with reunions, shifts in allegiance, and a mysterious new village connected to the Titan mythology as the threat of the Titan Incident approaches.
Guest stars this season include Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtis Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominic Tipper, and Camilo Jimenez Varon.
Monsterverse release date and what’s next
The 10-episode second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere on Friday, February 27th, with one new episode added every Friday through May 1st.
Apple TV+ and Legendary are also expanding the MonsterVerse with multiple series in development, including the untitled Young Lee Show prequel, which will be reprized by Wyatt Russell.
