Aussie Melissa George will play the suburban mother who was accidentally drawn under criminals in a new Crime Dramedi Set to begin production in New Zealand for Warner Bros Discovery TV3 next month.
Following the deadline, Mr. X is focusing on women who work with friends from high school to scare their unfair husbands and scare them of being loyal. But when things become (mistakefully) murderous, she gets caught up in between a police officer, a cartel, and a vicious PTA.
Hannah Marshall and David De Lautour created the series. It is produced with photos from Plus6Four and South Pacific and features dynamic television co-production and handling worldwide distribution.
The pair will be executive produced with Gareth Williams for Plus6four Entertainment, working with Kelly Martin of South Pacific Pictures and Daniel March of Dynamic Television. It will be directed by De Lautour, who previously collaborated with Marshall on the mystery drama series Alibi.
In a statement, Marshall described the series as “a dark cartoon view of the New Zealand crime world,” which combines New Zealand’s unique brand of humor with “a twisted crime story created specifically for the world’s audience.”
Martin said some of the “best performances and practitioners in NZ” joined George on the project.
“We look forward to offering a world-class series,” she said.
X is supported by NZ On Air and NZ Screen Production Rebate, but is expected to premiere in the first half of next year.
