A new update about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and its DLC at New York Comic Con 2024 could reveal the release date for Marvel’s Venom. Insomniac Games and PlayStation have yet to reveal a game called Marvel’s Venom, but following last year’s massive Insomniac Games leak, we now know about the existence of a Marvel game from the pair.
Marvel’s Venom (referred to in the leak as Venom: Lethal Protector) is set to be released in 2025, according to some leaked documents. However, other material leaked from the same server hack suggests a 2027 release. We don’t know yet which of these are accurate, but the aforementioned update could point to a leak in 2025.

The aforementioned update during New York Comic Con 2024 revealed that unlike its 2018 predecessor, Marvel’s Spider-Man, which received three different story DLCs, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not feature any story DLC. It was something.
What does this have to do with Marvel’s Venom? Well, they both come from Insomniac Games, and the project teams have quite a bit of overlap, if not the exact same team. To this end, the resources saved by not creating story DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be funneled into other projects. This also means work on Marvel’s Venom will have to start sooner, but it remains to be seen how Marvel’s Wolverine, also in development at Insomniac Games, will take this into account.
It’s also worth pointing out that the infamous leak itself may have significantly changed plans. In fact, this project and others in progress may have been canceled as a result of the leak. Without this, things can change dramatically. And even if neither of these things are true, there’s no doubt that the leak itself has slowed down the Insomniac game, at least a little bit.
Either way, this new update on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and its lack of DLC is good news for Marvel or PlayStation fans looking to play Marvel’s Venom soon. Because, assuming the project is still in the works, it’s going to happen sooner than Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC does. However, whether a 2025 release is being considered seems unlikely at this point. If so, it probably would have been released by now, but PlayStation has shortened the time between reveal and release for many games, and a 2025 release can’t be completely ruled out.
