Nintendo has posted the Ask the Developer series for Mario Kart World. This revealed a lot of information about the game, including the fact that the original Nintendo Switch was under development since 2017.
In 2020, the company instead decided to move development to Nintendo’s next console after admitting that it would have to cut features or drop games from 60 fps and run on the original Nintendo Switch.
Interestingly, I decided to do the Mario Kart 8 expansion pass, extending the lifespan of that game and giving the team more time to realize the full vision of the game
“When we were developing for the Nintendo Switch, it was difficult to incorporate everything we wanted, so we were always aware of what we had given up in return. We discussed how tone the visuals, lower the resolution, and more. Sato said.
“We worked on it while kicking and kicking the can in terms of deciding what to give up, so we knew it would be messy at some point. But we decided to release the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass, so we thought it would give us a little more time. Hopefully.
“Yabuki-San first nurtured it around 2020. At the time, we were already thinking about the expected specifications for the next console, but it wasn’t long after we actually received the work development unit. Until then, we had to proceed with development based on a preliminary estimate.” We added Sato.
Mario Kart World will be released on June 5th alongside the Nintendo Switch 2. Check out the game preview here.
