Apple TV has released the official teaser trailer for Lucky, giving us a first look at the upcoming limited series led by Anya Taylor-Joy. Watch the teaser above and read what’s revealed about the story, central characters, and the series’ creative team.
Anya Taylor-Joy is a con artist on the run
Based on Marissa Stapley’s New York Times bestselling novel, Lucky follows a professional con artist whose carefully constructed life begins to unravel when a multi-million dollar heist goes awry. Forced to go on the run, Lucky finds himself pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, and survival becomes less about the next score and more about finding solid footing.
During a panel discussion at Apple TV’s 2026 Press Day, Taylor-Joy explained what drew her to the role and why she felt she had to be involved behind the camera.
“I think every project has a very intuitive appeal to you if that’s what you’re trying to do,” Taylor-Joy said. “When I read Lucky, I immediately felt a lot of empathy for a woman who couldn’t stay still and was desperately looking for a place to put down roots. So often when we look at con artists, we think about the glamorous side and the adrenaline rush. I felt a lot of empathy for her, but she didn’t have any solid ground to call home.”
Cast, producer, release date
“Lucky” comes from Reese Witherspoon’s “Hello Sunshine” and was created by Jonathan Tropper (“Your Friends and Neighbors,” “Banshee”), who co-showruns with Kathy Pappas. Produced by Apple Studios, the series is executive produced by Tropper through Tropper Ink, with additional contributions from Pappas, Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, and Taylor-Joy through her LadyKiller banner. Jonathan Van Tulleken (Dope Thief, Shogun) will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer.
Lucky will premiere globally on Apple TV on July 15th with the first two episodes, followed by weekly releases until August 19th.
