Lingo Pictures’ six-part thriller Watching You has been sold to Hulu in the US and Disney+ in EMEA as part of a global deal that also includes the UK.
The series, based on the novel The Last Guest by JP Pomare, stars Aisha Dee as Lina, who, after a passionate one-night stand, discovers that her affair was captured on a hidden camera in her apartment. Amid growing threats and paranoia, she sets out to uncover the true identity of an insidious voyeur, only to discover that the threat is closer and more dangerous than she imagined. The cast also includes Josh Helman, Chai Hansen, Laura Gordon, Olivia Vasquez, and Luke Cook.
Alexei Mizin and Ryan van Dijk adapted Pomare’s novel for television, with Ringo Pictures’ Jason Stevens and Breanne Sykes producing, and Helen Boden serving as executive producer. Peter Salmon and Sian Davies directed the episodes, which are produced in association with international deal negotiators ITV Studios, which also includes Ringo Pictures.
The series has significant production investment from Screen Australia, with funding supported by Screen NSW through the Made in NSW Fund. She debuted on Stan on October 3rd last year.
Ringo Pictures’ Jason Stevens said the global deal was a proud moment not only for the creative team but “as a whole for our local industry, which brings Australian stories to the world stage”.
“We are very proud of this work,” he said.
“We’ve always believed in its global appeal, and it’s great validation to see Hulu and Disney+ show such confidence in this series.”
Watching You will have its world premiere on Friday, February 20th.
