Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has paid a touching tribute to the late singer, revealing the poignant promise he made to her just weeks ago.
The 25-year-old American influencer had issued a short statement following Payne’s death, asking fans to give her “grace and space to work through this privately.”
Now, she posted on Instagram a sweet photo of herself and Payne on a merry-go-round. She also shared a photo of a heartfelt note she wrote to Payne weeks before his death, in which she said they planned to get married soon.

The note read: “Me and Kate will be married in a year/engaged and together forever.”
In a eulogy sandwiched between the photo carousels, Cassidy told the story behind the note.
“A few weeks ago, we were sitting outside on a beautiful evening and realized we were living together. Even though you told me not to look at your notes, I looked at your notes. I treasure it,” she wrote.
“Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way I planned. You’ll always be with me. I got a guardian angel,” she continued.

In a statement, Cassidy said Payne was “my best friend and the love of my life” and also opened up about the sadness she felt.
“You were – because I can’t say you were – my best friend and the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt as special as I did. Your energy was contagious and lit up every room you entered,” she wrote.

Cassidy and Payne started dating in 2022, after they shared a photo of themselves dressed as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee at a Halloween party.

The pair were on holiday in Argentina in late September, attending a show by Payne’s former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan. The couple spent two weeks vacationing together, after which Cassidy returned to the United States.
Two days after leaving, Payne died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Cassidy ended her statement with an emotional message to Payne.
“I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, and I will carry our dreams and memories with me wherever I go.”
