Update: Target is selling the Lego Game Boy set for $69, which is a great price. You can get it here. This is a great price for a set that is already great value for money.
ORIGINAL STORY: This morning Lego lifted the lid on the Lego Game Boy, and it’s arguably the most amazing Lego Nintendo set ever.
It’s a near 1:1 replica of the original Game Boy, with all movable buttons including a directional pad, select/start button, A/B button, and volume/brightness slider.
If that’s not enough, it also comes with Legend of Zelda and Mario carts that fit on the back of the Game Boy, and three lenticular screens (Zelda, Mario, and boot screen) that can be swapped out inside the Game Boy.
The LEGO GameBoy costs $99.95, which feels like a bargain for a 421-piece set that celebrates one of the most iconic pieces of gaming history. You can pre-order it from the LEGO Store ahead of its October release here.
Lego also produced an original Game Boy commercial for the Lego replica, which you can see in all its glory below.
