The Australian national team will aim for new heights at the 2024 Paris Olympics, to be held in France from July 26 to August 11.
The 33rd Games will feature more than 460 athletes from the Australian Olympic team competing in 42 of the 45 Olympic sports. As many as 35 venues will be used for the 329 medal events.
The Paris 2024 Games will officially open with the opening ceremony on 26 July, but competition in soccer sevens and rugby will begin on 24 July.
The men’s rugby sevens team will become the first Australian team to begin Olympic action on July 24 against Samoa. The high-flying Matilda and her Australian archers will begin their journey on July 25th.
Australia will be represented in track and field with 86 athletes, making it the largest Australian track and field team in Olympic history.
The team includes three medalists from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Nicola Ollislager, silver medalist in the high jump, Ash Moloney, bronze medalist in the decathlon, and Kelsey-Lee Barber, bronze medalist in the women’s javelin throw at Tokyo 2020.
At Paris 2024, track and field events such as race walking and marathons will be held from August 1st to August 11th.
Several events are planned for the day after the opening ceremony.
The Australia Paris 2024 swimming team, which has won the country the most medals at any Olympic Games to date, will be in action from July 27 to August 9.
A total of 45 Australian swimmers (41 in the pool category and 4 in the marathon category) were named to the team. Olympic gold medalists Emma McCune, Kayleigh McCune and Arialne Titmus will be some of the top names in action.
Jessica Fox will return to Paris in 2024 in hopes of winning her fifth Olympic medal, competing in the women’s kayak single, cross and canoe single events. The canoe slalom competition will be held from July 27th to August 5th.
Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Harry Garside will also lead the 12-man Australian boxing team from July 27.
Meanwhile, Logan Martin will aim to defend his BMX freestyle title on July 31st. Track cycling, one of Australia’s specialties, begins on August 6th.
Two-time Olympic medalist Alexander Hill will lead the 37-member Australian rowing team in Paris. The Rousselas will compete in nine medal competitions from July 27th to August 3rd.
The Kookaburras, who missed out on gold three years ago when they lost to Belgium in the final, will be placed in Pool B and will open their tournament against Argentina on July 27. Meanwhile, the Boomers will face Serbia in Pool A on the same day. .
The Australian men’s basketball team, led by Patty Mills, won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, breaking a 65-year medal drought.
Equestrian Shane Rose, 51, who is the oldest member of the 2024 Australian Olympic team, will compete in the men’s event from July 27. 14-year-old skateboarder Alisa Truew will also be the youngest Australian to perform at the Paris Olympics. at the Women’s Park event scheduled for August 6th.
