Comedian, writer and actor Kitty Flanagan will be offering 2025 women in Media Oration to honor Caroline Jones AO at the Mae Gala dinner event in Sydney.
Flanagan is probably best known as a co-writer, co-director, and star of the popular ABC comedy series, Fisk.
Initially, her honorable female protagonist said it was “not too possible,” and Flanagan broke broadcast and streaming records on Fisk, surpassing 3 million viewers in her latest premiere, ranking in the top 10 in 10 countries on Netflix.
The series has also won multiple AACTA, Logie, and Screen Producers Australia (SPA) awards.
Flanagan’s work includes appearing like his weekly self with Charlie Pickering (ABC) as Laudda, media manager for the working dog series Utopia (ABC). She previously led a segment of Network 10 projects to create guest spots for the comedy news quiz program.
The writer and performer are the second speaker of the 2025 Women of Media Olation, honoring Caroline Jones AO, following journalist Kate McCrimont’s first speech last year.
The gala dinner event, which will be held on May 28th, is designed to honor the long-standing legacy of media patron Caroline Jones, who has coached many women throughout the media industry.
Kim Middleton, the general manager of Media Australian women, said Flanagan’s speech would be “very special” as audiences see and engage her in a very different way than before.
“She has an incredibly enviable ability to engage and entertain a wide audience,” she said.
“This will be an inevitable night for anyone in the media and entertainment, and for anyone who admires Australia’s great creatives.”
