Rockwith and Great Australian walk host Julia Zemiro returns to ABC to take the front with a new true crime panel show that blends criminology and comedy.

Produced by DreamChaser, Maverick Entertainment and Crime Night! It features a panel of criminologists and comedians who analyze famous cases before using the science behind crime to explore other aspects of life.

Zemiro is executive producer of Maverick alongside David Forster and Frank Bruzzese, with executives from Carl Fennessy and Monique Keller producing DeamChaser. ABC Executive Producer Michiko Smith and ABC Entertainment Head Rachel Millar are also part of the creative team.

Filming will begin in early August in Melbourne.

Zemiro, who previously hosted a long-term documentary series, at ABC, said she was excited to return to the station to pilot a panel show on modern criminology.

“A great criminologist and brain comedian?” she said.

“Check! One of the very engaged hosts? That’s me! Yes Check!

“This new team of writers and producers is a breath of fresh air working together to delve into the science behind crime.

Fennessy and Keller said in a statement that they are happy with the night of crime! To become the first committee under the production partnership of Maverick Entertainment and DreamChaser.

“We are thrilled to work with ABC to launch this brand new comedy true crime panel show,” they said.

“The talents of executive producers David Forster, Frank Brutzese and Julia Semiro are exceptional, and we work with a great panel of criminologists and comedians to explore the fascinating real-life cases that we are obsessed with in the most entertaining ways.”

ABC Entertainment Head Rachel Miller explained about Crime Night! “While contriving your spine, making you laugh at the same time,” as a show.

“Australians don’t get enough real crime, and we’re excited to work together with DreamChaser and Maverick to bring this innovative, original format to the ABC screen,” she said.

“For those who like to pound the latest True Crime podcasts or play detectives in group chats, this is a show for you.
