This has long been talked about as a feature coming someday, and The Verge reports that Xbox Cloud Gaming will finally add the ability to stream games you own starting in November.
This means you can stream at least some of your game library. This means you don’t need to be on Xbox Game Pass to stream games from your library.
Obviously, this will likely only work with purchased digital games, which makes sense considering Xbox just updated its app and you can now purchase games directly through the app. This will likely allow you to buy games and start streaming directly in the app on your phone or TV, regardless of whether you own an Xbox or if the game is already included in Xbox Game Pass. It will be.
As of this writing, it’s unclear whether all games will be affected or if the scope will expand starting with a few popular games, but we’ll keep you posted once Xbox makes an official announcement on this.
In my opinion, this is a huge step forward for Xbox cloud gaming. I’m a big fan of this and think it’s a great way to make games more accessible.
