We’re officially premiering the next season of MasterChef Australia.
The new teaser trailer, which you can watch above, promises that “there’s never been a season like this before,” so we’re sure you can understand our excitement.
The 2024 season of MasterChef Australia will be the show’s 16th season overall, but the first since the unexpected death of judge Jock Zonfrillo. It will also be the first time Andy Allen will judge without Jock or Melissa Leon. It was confirmed that Melissa would not be returning.
In a statement released by Channel Ten, Andy admitted: “After a very difficult year in 2023, on reflection the decision to return to the series was not taken lightly.”
Joining Andy this year is none other than Po Ling Yeo.
When the news was first announced in October 2023, the fan-favorite season 1 runner-up said: “MasterChef Australia is where my food story started, so it feels like coming home.” ” he said.
“A big part of me is always standing on the other side of the contestants and hoping they look at me and see proof that you don’t have to win to win.”
Of course, 2024 won’t be the first time Poe revisits the MasterChef kitchen. Since the first season, she has appeared on the show multiple times as a guest judge and was also a contestant on the 2020 All-Star season ‘MasterChef: Back To Win’.
Andy and Poe will also be joined by food writer Sophia Levin and French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli as judges on MasterChef Australia in 2024.
“The first season of MasterChef Australia aired the same year I started writing about food. Being a judge on MasterChef was like two parallel paths converging. I feel giddy with excitement at the people I get to stand next to,” Sofia exclaimed.
Jean-Christophe, who has multiple Michelin stars and is ready to share his knowledge with Australian audiences, was equally excited to join the MasterChef family.
“Australian cuisine has an incredible reputation on the world stage and it is a great privilege to meet and mentor some of the country’s top home cooks as they strive for greatness,” he said.
It has also been confirmed that Jamie Oliver will serve as a guest judge on MasterChef for two full weeks in 2024. This is the longest time a guest chef has appeared on a series.
“I’m so happy to be back in the MasterChef kitchen and spending time in Australia,” Jamie said.
“I think MasterChef Australia is the best food show in the world, with amazing production values and an incredible story of transformation.
“I love seeing how the contestants constantly surprise themselves with what they can achieve.More than that, MasterChef connects Australians with food and the joy of cooking, and that’s why Nothing but positive things.”
So what’s going on with Melissa Leon?
Don’t worry! She won’t go very far. In a post on Instagram, Melissa confirmed she has no plans to leave Channel Ten for good. She will join Amaury Guichon as a judge on Dessert Masters, which will air consecutively with the 2024 season of MasterChef.
“The Changing of the Guard is something I’ve been planning to do for a long time and I’m very happy to be able to do it on my terms today.”
The new season of MasterChef Australia premieres on Monday 22 April at 7.30pm on 10 and 10Play.
