Apple TV+ has announced the premiere date for Season 2 of its Idris Elba-starring thriller series Hijack, and released a short but sweet teaser (watch above) to coincide with it. The next chapter replaces cruising altitude with claustrophobic tunnels as the series moves from airplanes to trains in Berlin.
This time, a Berlin subway car and its commuters were taken hostage, leaving authorities scrambling on the ground. Sam Nelson (Elba) is once again in the midst of a crisis, dealing with a high-pressure crisis where one wrong move could set off a chain reaction. The teaser saves the sharpest part for last, with a fleeting glimpse of equipment attached to the underside of the train.
Idris Elba (who also serves as executive producer), Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi will also be joining the cast. New additions include Christian Nethe, Claire-Hope Ashitei, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christian Paul.
The eight-episode second season was produced by George Kay (Lupin, Detective) and Jim Field Smith (Detective, Litvinenko), with Field Smith continuing as lead director. Produced by 60Forty Films (Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Cousetta, Tom Nash) and Idioramp Productions, Kaye and Field Smith also serve as executive producers.
Season 2 will premiere globally in two episodes on January 14, 2026, and will air weekly thereafter until February 25, 2026.
The first season quickly became one of Apple TV+’s top dramas, earning a 90% Certified Fresh critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, ranking in the Nielsen Top 10 Streaming Originals, and earning Elba an Emmy nomination for her performance.
