Teresa Palmer is heading to Midgard. The Australian actor has joined Prime Video’s upcoming live-action God of War, stepping into the role of Sif as the series continues to take shape following the recent casting of Ryan Hurst as Kratos.
Palmer will play Phoebe, also known as Sif, a Norse family goddess and Thor’s wife. In the God of War games, Sif is a key figure in the Aesir realm, closely tied to the fractured family relationships at the heart of the Ragnarok era. The character was previously voiced and played by Emily Rose in God of War: Ragnarok.
The Prime Video series has already received orders for two seasons and is currently in pre-production in Vancouver. Deadline first reported Palmer’s casting, but noted that Amazon declined to comment.
Shortly after the report surfaced, Palmer confirmed his involvement on social media. She shared an image of Deadline’s headline and captioned it, “Game on. ⚔️ #godofwar.”
Palmer’s casting continues the strong Australian presence in this adaptation, with the actor coming from recent television productions such as the Australian series The Family Next Door and AMC+’s The Last Anniversary. Her credits include Lights Out, Warm Bodies, Hacksaw Ridge, and A Discovery of Witches, where she played historian-turned-witch Diana Bishop for three seasons.
Developed by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions, God of War is directed by writer, showrunner and executive producer Ronald D. Moore (For All Mankind, Outlander). The series follows Kratos and his young son Atreus as they embark on a very personal mission. It tests their bond as they confront each other about what it means to be divine and human. The role of Atreus has not yet been officially cast.
