Claws appear in the official teaser trailer for Girlfriend, Prime Video’s upcoming six-part psychological thriller drama starring Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Olivia Cook (Dragon of the Dragon). Check out the teaser above and see more details below.
Mother, girlfriend, and lots of doubts
Based on Michelle Francis’ bestselling novel, Wright plays Laura in the series. Laura is the owner of an art gallery where carefully composed life begins to break when her beloved son, Daniel (Laurie Davidson), brings a new girlfriend. Enter the cherry that Cook plays. Cook’s charm doesn’t make Laura a fool for a second.
I’m worried at first. Some gazes. Carefully expressed comments. But it’s clear soon. These two women are circling each other like predators. Cherry may be manipulating her path in Daniel’s mind…or maybe Laura’s paranoia is blinding her to the truth. The teaser doesn’t answer much – it can just drop hints and simmer the tension.
One scene shows Daniel gushing about Cherry like he’s never done before, but Laura appears to be clearly unstable. Others also at least look like a bloody cake-cut moment at the wedding.
Cast, creative, and source material
The series was created by Naomi Sheldon and Gabbie Asher, and Wright also joins the executive producer. Alongside Wright, Cook and Davidson, the cast includes Werede Zuiter, Teina Moody, Shalom Brune Franklin, Karen Henthorn, Prime Minister Anna, Leo Starr and Francesca Corney.
Wright leads the series and acts as an executive producer, as well as behind the camera. Wright directs the first three of the show’s six episodes, continuing his list of directorial credits, including House of Card episodes, two episodes of Ozark, one episode, and a 2021 featured land. The four to six girlfriends in the episode are directed by Andrea Harkin. Andrea Harkin’s credits include the episode’s episode, the trial of soulmate Christine Keeler.
