Apple TV+ has announced the full trailer for Foundation Season 3, dramatically looking at what’s next in David S. Goyer’s vast sci-fi SAGA.
Set 152 years after the events of Season 2, Season 3 discovers that the Foundation has grown far beyond its original position, but the former Struggle Empire continues to decline. New threats rise as both parties try to stabilize their unsettling alliances. Malba decided to control the galaxy through both military power and mind control.
The trailer highlights the arrival of the mule, played by Game of Thrones alum Pillow Asbeck, teasing Lou Robel’s looming conflict with Girl Dornik. As Gaal states in the footage, “The Mule’s abilities are far beyond what I can do,” setting the stage for a conflict that can further push the series into the quest for telepathic power known as “mental” of either Asimov’s larger Canon.
The foundation remains a loose adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s original novel, but showrunner David S. Goyer previously described the series as more remixes, pulling across the book to build his own version of the vast story. The introduction of Girl as an important spiritual counter to the mule is one of the series’ biggest departures, offering a potential mind-to-mind showdown that deviates from the original textual structure.
Jared Harris and Lee Pace will return as Hari Seldon and Brother Day alongside Llobell, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann and Alfred Enoch. New cast members this season include Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Sinnoff Carlsen, Cody Fern, Thomas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Oscar Winner Troy Cotool and Asbeck.
The 10-episode third season premieres on Apple TV+ on July 11th, with new episodes streaming every week until September 12th.
