Fans believed that such an update would breathe new life into FM24 and make the wait for FM25 a little less painful.
Instead of introducing new data updates, Sports Interactive has released a statement confirming that they will not be making updates of any kind as they are focusing on the development of FM25.
The statement states in no uncertain terms that FM24 will not be getting an official update to patch data for the 2024/25 season. The social media post also says it’s “impossible.”
The statement confirms the reason as follows: “While we have narrowed down the scope of work required and the initial response from many licensors has been positive, we are unable to unlock the assets used in FM25 and make them work in FM24. I will.
“The same applies to many competition rules, translations, and database changes that cannot be backported. Updated assets and data must both be approved by the licensor and cannot be separated. .
“This is an important initiative that will take away critical resources to deliver FM25 at the highest quality possible, and we simply cannot compromise on this.”
The data update statement follows Sports Interactive’s decision to delay the release of FM25 to March 2025 to allow enough time to release a polished product.
Without new content, some may wonder if it’s worth continuing with the FM24 save without the latest information embedded in the game.
However, many remain optimistic about FM25’s success. One fan said, “Thank you for being transparent and always letting us know what’s going on. True FM fans will be excited to play FM25 regardless.” I am.
Sports Interactive also revealed that fans who don’t want to wait an additional month can get a refund from the retailer where they pre-ordered the game.
Despite the opposition, interest in FM25 remains at an all-time high, and thanks to the additional development time, many expect it to be the best installment of the Management franchise to date.
FM25 introduces a new game engine and is positioned as a fresh start for the franchise.
While the delays and lack of official data updates to FM25 are certainly frustrating, transparency from Sports Interactive is much better than keeping fans in the dark about the situation.
