Flying Bark Productions has promoted Alexia Gates Fall to executive director of content, responsible for the company’s global content strategy.
Mr. Gates-Foale has been with Flying Bark since 2008 and most recently served as Director of Production, overseeing the entire project pipeline and producing a variety of original content.
In his new role, he will lead the creative vision and production of original IP and scripted originals for kids and families under live-action indie label After Bark.
Her promotion comes as Flying Bark looks to expand its independent IP and original children’s and family content following the opening of a Madrid studio in 2024 alongside its existing Los Angeles and Sydney operations.
“I’m thrilled to take on this role at a pivotal time for our company as we grow and diversify our business with new creative talent, producing partnerships, and expanded production in Europe and North America. Flying Bark has always believed in the power and universality of crafting stories for local and global audiences, and I’m excited to help lead the next chapter,” said Gates-Fall.
Gates-Fall recently produced an animated version of Sean Tan’s Tales from Outer Suburbia. The film premiered at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival and is currently available on ABC iview in Australia and BYUtv in the US. She is also producing the Australian animated feature film Zack Power with a voice cast that includes Parker Little, Matt Lucas, Kylie Cantrall, Leah Purcell and David Wenham. Paramount Pictures plans to release the film in Australia next year.
Her other producing credits in original content include 100% Wolf, 200% Wolf, FriendZSpace, Maya the Bee Movie, and Blinky Bill: The Movie.
Gates Fall will continue to oversee major client projects, including Netflix’s animated series “Stranger Things: Tales from ’85” and the “Minecraft” series, as well as Sony/Netflix’s “Ghostbusters” series.
“Flying Bark is going from strength to strength and Rex has been instrumental in driving our growth and creative excellence. We are excited to see our Australian cause flourish under her leadership as new opportunities emerge for locally produced screen content. There is no one better suited to lead Flying Bark into this next era,” Flying Bark CEO Barbara Stephen said.
Rounding out its leadership team, Flying Bark recently appointed Matthew Mfanokiya as its new director of operations, who will work across the studio’s three international locations and oversee facilities, IT, talent and culture, and production support.
Mupfanochiya has over 17 years of experience across senior operations roles, including Canva and Atlassian.
“Flying Bark is at a very exciting intersection of creativity and technology, and it’s exactly where I love working,” said Mupfanochiya.
“The studio has built an incredible reputation for world-class animation produced right here in Australia, and I’m excited to bring my experience scaling fast-growing organizations to support the artists, producers and teams that make it possible.”
