Gunn talks about Superman’s humanity and influence:
“You see a battered Superman at the beginning, and I think that’s our country,” Gunn said at a press conference announcing the trailer. The filmmaker explained that the film’s emotional core is “about kindness.” It was a movie about being good. “I believe in human goodness, and most people in this country, despite their ideological and political beliefs, are trying to survive as best they can, no matter what the world thinks.” I believe he is trying to be a good person, no matter what he is.” I think what the other side, or the other side, is and this movie is about that. ”
Director Gunn draws inspiration from a variety of sources, and Superman takes cues from All-Star Superman and elements of Silver Age comics, but it’s not just a retread of his past work. said.
“Obviously the original Donner movie was an influence on me, but there’s a lot of things in this film that aren’t. I’m just making Donner-type movies. It’s very different from that.” IGN quotes Gunn as saying in a round-table interview with reporters. “Zack (Snyder) did an amazing thing. So there are a lot of ways that he influenced me. There are a lot of ways that the DC animated world influenced me, but most of all the comic book work, most of all the All-Stars. Superman influenced me. Lex (Luthor) is really a magician in a way, with a Silver Age vibe and a sci-fi approach with gadgets.”
Gunn added: “So everything[influenced me]and it’s completely who we are.”
