First feature writer recognized for “Inside” and “Audrey” nods at AWGIE nominations

The debut feature screenplay was well chosen in the original feature category at next month’s AWGIE Awards, accounting for four of the five nominations.

The Writers Guild of Australia announced the nominees for the 57th annual Awards yesterday, recognizing more than 80 works across film, television, documentaries, theatre, interactive and games, audio, animation and children’s television.

Also vying for Best Original Feature are “Audrey” (Lou Sands), “Inside” (Charles Williams), “Stubborn Here” (Taylor Broadley), and “The Windcatcher” (Boyd Quarcoot). , along with the Robbie Williams biopic “Better Man,” are the first feature films for each writer. Michael Gracey, Oliver Cole, Simon Gleeson). In the adaptation category, Becca Johnston’s upcoming debut feature “Addition” will compete against Robert Connolly’s “Forces of Nature.”

The final season of Total Control had two nominations in the television series category (Pip Carmel and Stuart Page), and was nominated for Territory (Stephen McGregor), Erotic Stories (Adrian Chiarella) and The Artful Dodger. (James McNamara) and the Netflix hit Heartbreak High (Megan Palinkas).

The four limited series titles are Expats (Alice Bell with Lulu Wang, Janis Y. K. Lee, Gursimran Sandhu, Bella Miao), Fake (Anya Beiersdorf, Jessica Tuckwell, Hyun) Lee), High Country (Marcia Gardner, John Ridley, Beck Cole). ) and The Tattooist of Auschwitz (Jaclyn Perske, Evan Placey, Gabby Asher).

“Snail Memoirs”.

Fresh off a Golden Globe nomination, Adam Elliott’s Memoir of a Snail will compete in the animation category alongside Isabella Spagnuolo’s short film My Jumper, It Roars! and an episode of Thomas Duncan Watt’s popular sci-fi children’s show Space Nova.

The winners will be announced on Thursday 13 February at NIDA’s Parade Theater in Sydney. People outside of Sydney can watch the broadcast of the event for free via live stream from home.
